Activities
The children will be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide on all cultural visits and have activity sheets to complete throughout the visit. The classes are also linked to the visits so that the children learn to work and memorize in English. Visits include: Edinburgh Castle, Glasgow transport Museum, Planetarium, Maritime museum, Loch Lomond, and many more.
In the assemblies the children have to prepare presentations on different topics to learn to speak English confidently in public.
Specialist teachers are brought in to expose the children to as many native speakers as possible. In all the activities, we look to expose the children to as many natural learning opportunities as possible, for instance, in cooking the children will have to go into the shops to ask for the ingredients, and then come to the house to carry on with the task.
The children will learn traditional British sports, such as cricket, netball, rugby, and croquet.
After dinner activities include games, competitions, traditional Scottish dancing, home cinema, etc. (Any movies will always be age appropriate and carefully selected).
On Sundays the children are taken to Mass to St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Helensburgh.
